I’ve been doing lots of work on Planet of the Week, mostly behind the scenes. Some background:

  • Professional feedback – I’ve gotten good feedback from a professional publisher, which has led to some minor revisions but extensive playtesting.
  • New playbooks – Based on that feedback, I’m working on new ship playbooks, so there will be choices besides the Endeavor Maru. I have created three new background playbooks: the Belter (inspired by The Expanse), the Throwback (think Buck Rogers, or Steve Rogers, and maybe John Crichton), and the Terran. Many of my one-shots have had few or no humans. I’ve decided to provide an option to de-center humanity, where we’re now just one more alien race rather than the ones running our interstellar alliance (think Farscape). You can comment on the new background playbooks here.
  • Resurrected campaign – Last year’s summer campaign came back to life! We added a player and ran three sessions while my son was home from college for Christmas break, then we ran more summer sessions while he was home. I have four new planets I need to run again with others and write-up. We had an ice-moon episode. We had a classic caves episode (using the Colossal Cave point crawl I made). We had a western episode! We had a [redacted] episode!
  • Rotating GMs – My first campaign is still ongoing, having racked up 31 sessions since April, 2025. In Stars & Wishes, I wished to see other players take turns as GMs. At this point, two other players have GMed four planets across nine sessions. I’ve finally gotten to experience the game playing a character! It’s been a dream come true.
  • Oneshots – I’ve continued to run one-shot sessions (about 4 hours each). If you’d like me to run such a session for you and your friends, reach out to me on Mastodon.
